Exam Process, Levels and Scheduling
Learn how to schedule an exam, understand available levels, and coordinate with a certified examiner.
How do I schedule an exam? What is the process?
To take an exam, candidates must schedule directly with a certified examiner listed in the DVIDA Examiner Directory. The candidate and examiner will coordinate the exam date, time, and location together.
What are there different exam levels?
Exams are offered in progressive levels, which may vary depending on the exam type. Professional Certification levels include: Associate's, Master's and Grant Master's. Each level builds upon the previous one and follows the Dance Vision Syllabus standards.
Associate's: Receiving an Associate Certification means you have sufficient knowledge of the Bronze level in any given Dance Vision Syllabus. Whichever style you choose, you will be required to start at the Associate level.
Master's: Receiving a Master Certification means you have sufficient knowledge of the Silver level in any given Dance Vision Syllabus. You must have completed your Associate's Certification to take your Master's.
Grand Master's: Receiving a Grand Master Certification means you have sufficient knowledge of the Gold level in any given Dance Vision Syllabus. You must have completed your Master's Certification to take your Grand Master's.
Do I need to fly an examiner to my city, or can I travel to an examiner?
Candidates may choose either option:
- Travel to an examiner’s location
- Arrange for an examiner to travel to their city
Many examiners travel year-round and may already be scheduled to visit certain cities. Candidates are encouraged to contact examiners directly to express interest and coordinate exam details, including location, date, and time.
Important Notes:
Prerequisites include already having purchased an active membership on the Dance Vision Syllabus, and purchasing your exam from the Achievements tab in the Dance Vision Syllabus app. Candidates are responsible for confirming that all requirements are met before scheduling an exam.
