Professional Certificate Review Exam Process

How to join DVIDA coming from another organization

Professional Certificate Review Exam Process

Preface

The DVIDA Professional Certificate Review Exam process exists to protect the integrity, credibility, and value of a DVIDA certification. While other organizations’ credentials may demonstrate prior training, a DVIDA certification must be earned through demonstrated knowledge of our syllabus, standards, and expectations. For this reason, we deliberately use the term Review Exam instead of “recertification” — it conveys that further work and verification are required before a DVIDA credential can be awarded.

  • Submission of Paperwork

      • Candidates transferring from another organization must submit their original certification paperwork.

      • Paperwork must be complete, verifiable, and meet NDCA requirements.

  • Paperwork Not in Order → Full Exam

      • If paperwork is missing, incomplete, or noncompliant, the candidate must take the Full DVIDA Professional Exam.

  • Paperwork in Order → Review Exam (Not “Recertification”)

      • If paperwork is complete and valid, the candidate must take the DVIDA Review Exam.

      • This Review Exam is required to:

        • Verify alignment with DVIDA syllabus standards.

        • Ensure competency before awarding certification.

        • Reinforce that the DVIDA credential is earned through performance, not inherited from past credentials.

  • Failure to Demonstrate Proficiency → Full Exam Required

      • If the Review Exam reveals gaps in knowledge, the candidate will be required to complete the Full DVIDA Professional Exam.

      • This safeguard ensures readiness for judging licenses and consistency in professional standards.

  • Committee Oversight

      • All Review Exam outcomes are reviewed and approved by the DVIDA Certification Committee before certification is awarded.

  • Awarding the DVIDA Certificate

      • Upon successful completion of the Review Exam (or Full Exam, if required), the candidate is awarded the DVIDA Professional Certificate.

  • Archival of Paperwork

    • All original paperwork is submitted to the NDCA for verification and archival.
